An exciting new opportunity is emerging for racing enthusiasts and breeders alike. Wayne Lukas, based at Newmarket, is embarking on a new breeding project aimed at developing exceptional racehorses from the ground up. While he is new to training as a licence holder, Wayne brings over 40 years of experience working with horses and has a keen eye for livestock, making him a highly promising and ambitious addition to the racing industry. This initiative offers a rare chance to collaborate with someone passionate about racing and breeding, with a visionary goal of shaping the sport’s future champions.
The plan is to launch a breeding syndicate that will complement the existing Wayne Lukas Racing Club and three syndicates for horses currently in training. The initiative will pool resources, expertise, and passion from a group of dedicated stakeholders to breed, raise, and race top-tier horses.
The Foundation: Exceptional Breeding Stock
The breeding program is set to begin with a strong foundation, featuring three outstanding broodmares:
A French-bred mare, who has already had a colt to Rahasinghe, who is herself a proven winner. He is a stunning-looking colt, see image below—an exciting prospect for future racing or breeding ambitions, where members of the syndicate will choose the next stallion to cover her.
An Ifraaj mare, bred by Godolphin, with a solid race record. Although she was placed a few times, her true talent was evident—often pulling like a train, which prevented her jockey from fully harnessing her ability.
A first-time mare by Derby winner New Approach, also bred by Godolphin. She is unraced due to injury, but her half-sister recently achieved a victory in France for trainer Amy Murphy—another sign of her potential.
A Vision for Collaboration and Quality:
The goal is to assemble a vibrant syndicate, attending various stud farms to view prospective stallions that best match the mares’ genetics and potential. Collective decisions will be made on which stallions to use, to send the mares to top sires early next year.
State-of-the-Art Breeding Facilities:
Thanks to a recent arrangement, the syndicate now has access to a dedicated stud farm, rented from a trusted owner friend. This provides a first-class environment for breeding and nurturing future stars. All foals will be sold at elite sales, retained for racing, or sold at breeze-up sales, ensuring multiple avenues for success and engagement. See the video below:
Exciting Developments Continue:

The current crop includes a colt that is already turning heads—a true stunner with enormous promise. With such a strong start, the future looks busy, vibrant, and full of potential.
This initiative is about more than just breeding; it’s about fostering a community of passionate racing supporters and breeders dedicated to creating the next generation of champions. Whether as an owner, breeder, or enthusiast, this presents a rare opportunity to be part of a project rooted in expertise, innovation, and genuine love for the sport.
